Like wine, many of our favorite cheeses are made abroad, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find some extraordinary cheese manufactures in the states.  Below you will find some local cheese maker resources and I will follow up with a blog that explores the world…First, lets start with the a list of recognized champion US Cheese Makers from USChampionCheese.org

Washington County, NY Cheese Makers - Tours of Washington County, NY Cheese Makers including 3-Corner Field Farm (Shushan, NY), Argyle Cheese Farmer (Argyle, NY), Consider Bardwell Farm (West Pawlet, VT), Longview Farm (Argyle, NY), Sugarloaf Farm (Fort Ann, NY), and Sweet Spring Farm (Argyle, NY).

California Artisan Cheese Guild – A map of southern to northern California Cheesemaker Members.

Travel Wisconsin – Wisconsin Department of Tourism cheese maker maps and tours.

Boston Wine and Cheese Tours – A little twist on cheese touring, this company provides a tour of the City of Boston’s old neighborhoods and heritage in a wine and cheese tasting extravaganza.

Finger Lakes, NY Cheese Trail – Cheese tasting maps and tours of the Finger Lakes Region, NY (I would imagine this could make for a perfect fall day!)

Avalanche Cheese Company – Being a Colorado native and not having a large selection of cheeses, I wanted to give a shout out to our best and becoming very notable in the goat cheese industry (and it’s close to Aspen, so worth the trip!).
